Aww Nuts! Woman Finds Hundreds Of Walnuts Under The Hood Of Her Crossover

It’s never a good sign when your car is making noises and smells like its burning, but one Pennsylvania woman was shocked to discover what was wrong with her Kia Sorento.

In a Facebook post, Chris Persic said his wife called him and said there was something serious wrong with her crossover. Chris told her to pop open the hood and she was surprised to find the engine bay was almost completely covered by walnuts and grass.

As fate would have it, Chris was having problems of his own as his new truck was shaking under acceleration and had the check engine light on. After getting having his truck towed and getting a rental car, Chris met up with his wife and removed more than 200 walnuts from the engine bay. This took almost an hour, but they finally got it cleaned up enough to take the Sorento to a local service center to have it checked out.

After having both vehicles inspected, it appears a squirrel either chewed through or pulled out a fuel injector hose on Chris’ pickup. The Sorento, on the other hand, apparently became the squirrel’s winter storage spot.

The story quickly went viral and Chris talked about the incident with CNN yesterday. He said walnuts were “everywhere” in his wife’s Sorento including under the battery and near the radiator fan. They were also around the engine and these were black and “definitely roasting.”

While Chris removed hundreds of walnuts from the crossover, he didn’t get them all. After the Sorento was brought into a repair shop, technicians removed some underbody panels and this caused countless walnuts to fall to the ground. There were reportedly enough to fill half a trash can.
